Southampton Dance Teachers Dance with Luke Brown!
On Thursday 5th December eleven local Dance teachers were treated to a two-hour dance workshop with professional dance artist and choreographer, Luke Brown, of Luke Brown Dance Company. The event was organised by Lisa Fernandez Adams, Chair of the SEF Dance network and dance teacher from Richard Taunton Sixth Form College, as a result of the vibrant community of dance created through Dance network meetings in recent years.
The practical workshop was offered in response to local dance teachers recognising that they, too, need to feed their own creativity. They also need to be able to access continual professional development in the form of practical technique phrases and sequences to ‘brush up’ on dance technique. Dance teachers attending the workshop included those from within the Dance network, and some from slightly farther afield. The teachers included those from Richard Taunton Sixth Form College, Redbridge Community School, St Anne’s Catholic School and Sixth Form, Regents Park Community College, Upper Shirley High, Woodlands Community College, Bitterne Park School and Sixth Form, Mountbatten, St George Catholic College and Chamberlayne College for the Arts.
This event demonstrates the supportive nature of this network of Dance professionals, and the two hours were of great use to all who attended. We would like to thank Luke Brown for his time in working with us all and hope to be able to offer similar sessions in future.
